Applying for Exams

You are permitted to apply to take a midterm (or other non-final) exam only after all assignments preceding the exam have been submitted and after all but the assignment prior to the midterm have been graded. For example, if there are three assignments preceding a midterm, all three must be submitted, and the first two must be graded.

Likewise, you are permitted to apply to take a final exam only after all midterms (or other non-final exams) have been graded, after all assignments preceding the exam have been submitted, and after all but the assignment prior to the final have been graded.

Some courses may have stricter limitations on when exams may be taken. These restrictions will be listed in the course Introduction.

How to apply #

To take a proctored exam, you must first submit an exam application. In most courses, there is an Exam Application link in the syllabus, usually right below the Exam Tips link. Otherwise, the Exam Application link will be found on the same page that discusses how to prepare for the exam.

Simply click on the application link and fill-in the required information. If you use a proctor other than Examity (the free at-home proctoring service), you will need to add the proctor information as well.

Be sure to contact IUHS at 1(800) 334-1011 if you need assistance.

After you've applied #

After we have received your exam application and your exam supervisor has been approved, we'll forward the exam code to your exam center or supervisor. Please allow three business days for processing time.

Exam Accommodations for Students with Disabilities #

If you're a student with a disability and need special accommodations to complete your exam, please refer to students with disabilities for information about the documentation we require. We'll use this documentation to determine what kinds of accommodations to make.
